SCHOOL POLICY NOTES FOR THE NEW ADMINISTRATION – A new administration starts in Piacenza and many problems arise, old and new, in the construction of a program for the coming years. There are many needs that must be covered, both in terms of the conservation of the territory to guarantee a balanced living environment, and for its development which is linked to the rapid change driven by the productive system and the innovation that involves more and more the whole of the citizenry. .
The soul of this planning is an intangible asset called training, embodied by specific places that are dedicated to the so-called formal education, but also by other social subjects that express a non-formal education, which in the past traveled in a parallel way. , but that today they need to integrate their action more and more, because it is necessary, in addition to guaranteeing a right of the people, to be able to qualify the development of the same territory in different directions, starting with basic training, to go to work and continue in the direction of supporting adults, from an inclusive and participatory perspective.

This restart is in a rather fortunate period due to the presence of funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, covered with European funds, which have already provided Piacenza with resources for various needs: securing school buildings, building innovative schools, which go further. the old approach of frontal education and take into account the value of technologies and an activity that puts the schools themselves at the service of the whole community. There is already money on hand, let’s spend it on truly innovative projects.
The perspective of this plan is therefore that of collaboration, of “territorial educational pacts”, which see the Municipality realizing the direction of an operation in a close relationship between services and citizens, small and large , as also requested by the recent ministerial decrees. about the opening of summer schools, which can connect with summer centers, grest, etc. The plan envisages several other actions that must be prepared to face together: the resources to combat the dispersion and recovery of learning in fragile subjects and areas have already reached the schools and the canteens and gymnasiums have already been financed; I will intervene on the technical and professional education front, in the higher technical institutes, to align more and more the demand and supply of work, to connect with the development of the university system that in Piacenza has become truly impressive.
The first strategic objective is to consolidate the two poles of the city: that of childcare services, with innovations such as the spread of the English language, with that of the first school cycle, the so-called comprehensive schools that is lacking in Piacenza and that for reasons of global rationalization of the system, they must be implemented quickly. The whole city must be covered by these services to have a homogeneous distribution that grows and qualifies at the same time, so that children can enter before the age of three and leave at 14 after completing the basic training cycle.

In the second cycle, the training offer will be enriched, both for direct relations with the world of work, and to look for those addresses that want to develop new professional skills: music baccalaureate, ecological transition, biomedical, as well as new techniques. -Professional addresses must relate to regional training centers to build the “double channel” that opens up to non-academic tertiary education, to better and better adapt skills to the evolution of professional profiles .
After having gone through the improvement of the structures, the courses of study constitute the cultural options for the development of the community, and we come to the conclusion of what most directly affects the educational and social aspects, that is to say, the beginning of a multicultural Piacenza; here the Municipality cannot only worry about well-being, but must create the conditions so that good integration also improves society as a whole, given how it is changing from within. Let’s take the example of the schools of Piacenza, which without much help have shown that multilingualism and multiculturalism are a value for the whole community, which the Piacenza people are also realizing. Immigrant associations and the numerous religious communities that have emerged in our territory must not be places to claim spaces and rights, thinking of living in a reality that suspects them, but the Municipality must achieve maximum expression of the citizenry, as a whole. of freedom, participation and training.
