PALERMO – Aesthetics in Sicily continues to be the most attractive sector for young people who decide they want to complete their compulsory schooling in the vocational education and training system. The first-level, fourth-year training cycles have just been approved by the Region, and of the 110 courses funded, 76 deal with aesthetics and hairdressing.
For the rest, these are courses dedicated to the cooking and mechanics of various types of motor vehicles. The measure was financed with approximately 3.5 million euros, for a maximum amount of 4,000 euros per apprentice, which come from the resources allocated to the Youth Guarantee, because “by promoting the dual learning model based on organic integration of training and work-. reads the notice- allows us to continue the process of strengthening policies aimed at combating youth unemployment “, with special attention to young people aged 15 to 25, at greater risk of social and labor exclusion. minimum and maximum numbers of training activities, indicated in the call, the involvement of a number of young people in a range between a minimum value of 876 and a maximum value of 1,206 students is estimated.

The general objective of measure 4.A “Learning for a degree and diploma” is to reduce early school leaving of young people between 15 and 25 years, allowing them to attend training courses, recognized nationally and community , to which they offer the possibility of combining studies and work experience and which favor the connection between the offer of the educational system and the professional needs of the productive system.
The activation of the learning contract takes place through the signing, between the employer and the training institution, of the protocol that defines the tasks and responsibilities of each of the two parties and of the individual training plan that describes the content, the modalities of execution. and the duration of the internal and external training periods, respectively, at the employer’s headquarters and at the training institution.

Training for the employer must be carried out in 50% of the total of 1,056 hours. External training will be aimed mainly at the development of basic and professional skills common to professional profiles and will be carried out, for all the 528 hours provided, in the form of face-to-face training within the class group.

The learner, during his training course, is followed by a training tutor, appointed by the training institution, who monitors the development of the course and intervenes in the initial, intermediate and final evaluation of the learning course, and by a guardian of the company, appointed. on the part of the employer, who favors his insertion in the company, accompanies him, helps him in all the elements destined to plan and evaluate the activities and the efficiency of the training processes.
Both tutors collaborate to guarantee the formative success of the learners favoring the didactic and organizational link. Specifically, this type of teaching, inextricably linked to learning, aims to encourage the dissemination of apprenticeships within the autonomous region as the main lever for access to work, so that apprentices are guaranteed the right to adequate preparation for the acquisition of the skills and knowledge necessary for the professional qualification and to strengthen the interaction between companies and training institutions through on-the-job training experiences carried out within the company.
It is therefore a matter of responding to the real needs of companies and apprentices, enhancing the learning derived from work experience through certification.
