Sport è Vita is a reality present within the Montecatone Institute of Imola -the well-known structure specialized in the sector of spinal cord and brain injuries- aimed at patients who play table tennis through the “RGS program” (Rehabilitation through sports gesture) and for those who want to continue playing once registered. And the Sport è Vita team has recently been confirmed at the head of the Paralympic tennis movement, winning the Italian Team Championship in Rimini, as well as excelling in the final medal.
The team of Davide Scazzieripresident of Sport is lifeCompany founded by the Paralympic athlete from Imola and with the support ofMontecatone Institute – the well – known structure of Imola (Bologna) specializes in the field of spinal cord and brain injuries – and since Montecatone Foundation, has been confirmed at the forefront of the Italian tennis movement for wheelchair athletes. While in fact Scazzieri himself won one silver in singles, one gold in men’s doubles and one in mixed doubles with Carlotta’s young children – the latter already winner of the individual and youth class four – the Friulian Jade Rossi (second class gold and bronze in mixed doubles) completed the team that achieved an unexpected result, and perhaps for this reason especially significant, probably the most beautiful, winning a Rimini the title of Champion of Italy in Paralympic table tennis teamsalso facing much more qualified opponents.
And finally, another very prestigious result achieved by athletes is Vita, included as well Silvana Chirieleison (silver in the singular) e Luca Chiarinihighlighting in the club medal, a really surprising result, given the numerical gap of the athletes of the opposing teams.
“Everything is beautiful and unexpected,” he said Scazzieri -: the only negative note of the three days in Rimini is that next year will be very difficult to overcome! I thank all the athletes who train every day with so much passion and enthusiasm for always wanting to improve and the whole technical team. I have a great band and I’m proud of it. “
Sport is life is a reality present in Montecatone, for patients who play table tennis through the RGS program (Reeducation through sports gesture) and for those who want to continue playing once registered. “Congratulations to Davide and the Club’s athletes,” he said Mario Tubertini, CEO of Montecatone – for the results achieved and for the work he does weekly with our patients. Another source of pride in our structure is also to read the names of the athletes who took the podium: Davide Scazzieri, Giada Rossi, Carlotta Ragazzini, Silvana Chirieleison and Luca Chiarini are all former Montecatone patientssome of whom have known table tennis just during hospitalization“.
“This result – he concludes – is also the result of the work that our operators carry out daily for hospitalized people, in synergy with the technicians of the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee), publicizing and practicing various Paralympic sports. For us, in fact, re-education through sports gesture is real rehabilitation and integration tool“. (VC and SB)
