ICSP Porcari an island happy to go to school …

The Italian school is often the subject of much criticism, it is believed to be one of the worst systems in the world, but in reality it is not. It is very difficult for a student to go to school willingly and for this reason the problem is often exaggerated. This is not to say that the Italian school is perfect; in so many positives, there are so many negatives.

After an initial teaching course we measured ourselves in the business of culture, it was the 80s. In that period we were forerunners of European funds and not only brought training projects of the European community in our territory (then we go directly to Brussels), but we were the first to create the figure of the “tutor” and personalized recovery programs. for working students in collaboration with the public school.

In the 1980s, three-quarters of the population had only an eighth-grade diploma, and since then in Tuscany, in Liguria, where we had our offices, it boasts of having “seriously” graduated 4,500 adults. they started careers in various jobs. and university courses. It’s been a long time since we’ve been called to be a public school teacher again for six years. We accepted with enthusiasm and also with fear. The school had changed as society became more liquid and superficial and everything was reflected in the work of the teacher.

We were not discouraged, we did advanced courses based on the strengths of our experience: helping people with difficulties, children with disabilities. It is known that in every experience that is undertaken there is “the mess” to pay. In the different schools where we have attended we have noticed that between saying and doing there is the sea in the middle. In most schools there is no integration, no equity between the support teacher and the team, in short, even in this world the politically correct nickname of hypocrisy and shit that appears is applied and is not.

But fortunately not all realities are like that, there are happy islands like the comprehensive Porcari Institute. Here we have grown up, saying and doing things hand in hand, teachers working together maintaining and respecting the differences of others. We want to highlight the 1st A and 1st B team where all the teachers from Novella Lazzareschi to Tiziana Pazzaglia, Laura Garzo, Sara Pierotti, Agata Fioretti, Serena Arrigo and Federica Baisi, did their best so that the children could learn skills. and serenity overcoming their difficulties. We must remember the extent to which the period of the pandemic has affected its psychological stability, but the team has achieved this through the mediation between teachers and families and with the children who at the end of the year have achieved all the goals set. If we could we would give these teachers a prize, a gold medal and ask the so-called Minister Bianchi to come down from his seat to see how his employees work. These first hero teachers (like doctors and nurses) then infamous with a decree that wants to erase everything we have built in the last 50 years.

The Italian school offers preparation, in terms of content, among the best in Europe, but this is not recognized at European level or by the Italian government. In fact, neither the teacher’s preparation nor their monthly salary is recognized; in this we are the last in the world even Africa surpasses us. An Italian graduate is frowned upon abroad and will have many job opportunities even without experience and that says a lot about our education.

All the governments that have existed in Italy after the end of the first republic, the first thing they did was cut funds for education and culture, not to recognize the professionalism of teachers. The reality is that in this way we have frightened and disappointed students, but this is what they want: the more ignorant the citizens, the more they can be enslaved. However, they have not had men and women who believe in their work beyond salary, women and men who still have ideals and ethics such as the ICSP Porcari, thanks to the past management of Dr. Emiliana Pucci and her successor Dr. Filippo Guidi. In short, you can kill, humiliate the school and the culture, but our ideas will survive and there will always be a man and a woman who will fight you.

W Italy w school but the real.
