Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo, the third version of the electric sheet
A mix between the versatility of the Cross and the sportiness of the sedan
Milan, June 15 (askanews) – Porsche expands its electric range with the third variant of the Taycan, the Sport Turismo that combines the lines and versatility of the Cross with the “on-road” sports dynamics of the sedan.
With the new Taycan, Porsche is accelerating towards the goal of generating half of its sales with electric or electrified cars by 2025, focusing on growing demand and the upcoming arrival of the best-selling all-electric Macan. Last year, Taycan sales doubled to 41,000 units, 14% of the total (300,000 cars), surpassing 911, a record 38,000 units.
Highlights include Italy, where one in three Porsches registered last year was electrified and one in ten was a Taycan. “We are in perfect harmony with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality and electrification of more than 80% of our range by 2030. Our expectation is that Taycan will increase its weight over total sales, but “In absolute terms, however, we expect growth from last year,” said Porsche Italy CEO Pietro Innocenti.
Compared to the sedan, the Sport Turismo offers more space inside (44 mm rear and 9 mm front) and a larger trunk (1,200 liters with the seats down) with easier access from the large rear door. Another 84 liters are available in the “frunk”, the front trunk. A special bicycle carrier is available as an option to carry three normal or two electric bicycles. Perhaps a Porsche brand that recently announced the purchase of ebaz engine and battery manufacturer Fazua. Among the news, the update of the infotainment system also compatible with Android, assistance in remote parking to manage parking maneuvers remotely from your smartphone through the Porsche Connect application . For the panoramic glass ceiling comes the Light Control function: an electrical protection screen that allows you to transform the glass ceiling, in whole or in part, from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button.
The Sport Turismo is available in 5 versions with two battery options of 79.2 and 93.4 kWh for the less powerful. The entry-level version, the only rear-wheel drive version, has 408 hp (with overboost) and 476 hp with the Performance Battery Plus; the 530 hp and 571 hp 4S; the Gts 598 hp, the Turbo and the Turbo S 680 and 761 hp respectively. The powerful Porsche Turbo S burns 0-100 in 2.8 seconds in Launch Control mode for a top speed of 260 km / h, while the most autonomous version is the 4S: up to 498 km. Batteries with 800 volt architecture allow fast recharging of up to 270 kW (Performance Battery Plus): in 22 minutes it goes from 5 to 80%, while in 5 minutes it accumulates energy for 100 km. On consumption, the house indicates an average of 20-25 kWh per 100 km, but pushing it can exceed 40 kWh.
For the European media campaign with 22 countries, Porsche has chosen Gallura in Sardinia, focusing on mixed routes with fast stretches along the emerald coast and winding and guided inland, between rocks and mountains. Ideal for testing the new Taycan, which confirms all the qualities of the Porsche electrical project. We have to test the 4S, the Turbo and the Gts. Driving dynamics are exceptional thanks to an optimal weight distribution, with articulated batteries under the frame that lower the center of gravity, electronic suspension and efficient but never invasive traction and trim controls. The Taycan moves agilely and the curves are fast and precise even in the narrow. The powerful and modular braking system is well integrated with the braking energy recovery system, which is hardly noticeable, and withstands stress very well, taking into account the weight of the car which in the full versions is around 2 , 3 tons. As an option, the standard carbon-ceramic disc coating on the Turbo S is available, as well as the 4-wheel steering. The power is abundant and immediately available in the 4S and Gts versions, the Turbo S becomes lush and sticks to the seat. Acceleration is exciting on all models, amplified by the two-speed gearbox and sporty sound in a naturally digital version. Prices range from 91 thousand euros to 193 thousand for the Turbo S version.
